The Company’s aim is to be a commercial live entertainemnt company with its own funds, owned by shareholders and run by theatre professionals.
From its inception, the Company will offer its shareholders the opportunity to be involved in a range of productions thus spreading the risk. The scale of involvement in productions and the number of productions will expand rapidly over the first three years as the Company will grow and develop.
The Company’s principal objective is to take a controlling share of risk and management in major commercial theatrical productions, to become active in general and production management and to secure regular income that is less dependent upon profitability of individual productions and to nurture new talent.
The Company is confident of attaining the following objectives:
To secure a number of projects with the potential for long term income generation and worldwide exploitation;
To pursue a number and range of productions produced and co-produced in the major centres of South Africa, on tour and on occasion in several international theatres;
To nurture new theatre and new talent;
To build links with theatres and production companies in all the major centres in South Africa and abroad;
To monitor opportunities for the Company to be involved in radio, film and television productions and where appropriate to engage in exploitation of work first produced on the stage and develop new material for screen production including, if the opportunity arises, to produce in its own right.
The Company develops and produces live commercial theatrical productions for domestic and, ultimately, international audiences. The Company will market its productions, directly and through ticket vendors, to audiences at theatres in urban and rural locations.
The Company will also market its productions to commercial clients, which include casinos, corporations, festivals and exhibitions, theme and amusement parks, and eventually also cruise lines. The Company will produce limited-run shows and corporate events.
Full-scale shows utilize state-of-the-art sound, lighting, and special effects, incorporating singers, dancers as well as actors and feature live orchestras. Smaller-scale shows, such as those performed for corporate events, will typically use taped orchestra music. Vocals, however, will be performed live in all shows; there will be no lip-synching nor are any vocal tapes utilized.
All of the Company's productions will be designed to appeal to a broad spectrum of attendees by offering affordable, quality entertainment incorporating experienced talent and state-of-the-art special effects and staging. By offering multiple productions, the Company will seek to run more than one show in highly visited markets, thereby generating both increased operating margins and greater market share. In addition, it will be possible to tailor each show to suit the unique demographics of any audience and the size of any venue, and able to attract repeat business by varying regularly the composition of the acts in its shows.
In addition to benefiting from what the Company believes to be the expanding market for live entertainment, the Company is seeking to grow by increasing its market share. The Company has identified several ways to achieve this additional growth, including opening resident shows in new markets, acquiring other brand-name theatrical productions and acquiring small independent production companies. The Company's objective is to become a leading worldwide producer of affordable live commercial theatrical productions which have mass market appeal by the implementation both a "roll-out" and "roll-up" strategy.
